Environment Education
Earth Day began on April 22, 1970 and has been an important day ever since. It's a day to reflect on our planet, our environment and what we can do to help keep them healthy.
Interesting Facts:
- 1. Aryabhata was a great mathematician and astronomer. He was the first to deduce that the earth is round and rotates on its axis, creating day and night. ( Our Wonderful Planet Book 5)
- 2. Plants like to be talked to, and they love music! This has been proven by scientists. (Environmental Education, Class 2)
- 3. Earthworms are used to make very hard soil fertile. When soil is very hard, no plants can grow on it. The earthworms dig holes in the soil and make it softer! (Environmental Education, Class 2)
- 4. Earth Day Anthem is a universal song associated with Earth Day. Its lyrics are set to the tone of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” melody on which the official anthem of the European Union is based.
